We are seeking a Director of Compliance and Carbon Solutions to lead the Carbon Team based at our Redditch office.

The Role

The role is designated as taking on the line management of team members sitting within the current team as well being responsible for the successful technical delivery of all carbon related products and services. The role also requires input into strategy discussions related to product, service and business stream development and expansion. The role is one of line management, delivery structuring and technical delivery along with strategy development and commercial planning. The role will require the ability to look after customers and ensure their renewal; commercial awareness; skilled lined management; understanding of carbon/energy management delivery processes and how to optimise these.

Key Responsibilities

  • Line management of Consultants sitting within the Carbon Solutions team
  • Performance planning, feedback, guidance, development and improvement of team members
  • Managing the team’s resources to enable the successful delivery of products and services
  • Input into client management including renewal agreements in advance of their expiry
  • Identifying opportunities to further support customers and passing these on to business development
  • Structuring, development and growth of the team
  • Input into strategic discussions
  • Training of other teams and new team members both internally and externally when required
  • Liaising with other team managers to coordinate service delivery and work winning
  • Ensuring the team is utilised effectively and in line with target expectations

Performance will be measured by:

  • Ensures that the team is fit for purpose and is resourced sufficiently to ensure successful delivery
  • Regularly meets with team
  • Achieving team utilisation target
  • Ensuring renewals of contracts are achieved
  • Ensuring contracts are locked out and revenue secured as far in advance as possible
  • Ensuring team margin achieves target
  • Ensuring that value of contracts won achieves target
  • Inputs sufficiently and liaises well with business development customer success teams
  • Inputs sufficiently into the Long-Term Strategy plan

Personal qualities, aptitudes and skills

Essential Characteristics

  • Previous line or project management, or able to demonstrate management of people, customers and/or projects
  • Energy and/or Carbon management background, minimum of 5 years working in the industry
  • Understanding of budgets and targets
  • Commercial and entrepreneurial view alongside a strong awareness of the subject matter
  • Awareness of the wider strategic vision of the Division and how Carbon and Energy management meshes with this
  • Strong organisational and planning skills
  • Ability to use one’s initiative, ability to identify problems and solve them, make decisions
  • Lead by example to the rest of the team, strong customer focus.
